Detroit Diesel

Detroit Diesel, a subsidiary of Daimler, is a leading manufacturer of on and off highway medium and heavy-duty diesel engines for the commercial vehicle market.

The company offers a complete line of engines from 190 to 560 horsepower for the on-highway and haulage markets. The first Detroit Diesel engine was built in 1938. Over 3.5 million Series 53, 71, 92 and 149 two stroke engines followed.

The Series 60 has been the top selling heavy-duty diesel engine since 1992, and in 2008, the Company built its one millionth Series 60 engine.

Detroit Diesel has built more than 5 million engines since 1938 and currently has more than 1 million engines in operation worldwide. Older Detroit Diesel engines don't become obsolete. Simply by installing newer components, older Detroit Diesel engines can be upgraded to current standards.

Series 60®, MBE 900 and MBE 4000 engines can be found in several top brands in the Daimler Trucks North America family of trucks including Freightliner & Western Star. With a worldwide network of more than 800 authorized distributor and dealer locations, Detroit Diesel has become a global leader in the diesel engine industry.
